Kate Quinn is an artist based in Brisbane, Australia. She paints with oils to create beautiful still life images, rich in colour, form and texture. She is inspired by textiles, wallpapers, ceramics, fruit, foliage, and all types of flowers, and loves to combine these things in her paintings. Kate works from her home studio, where she is surrounded by kids, cats, chooks, flowers, and a loyal rescue dog called Jessie.
Kate grew up with a creative mother, so was constantly engaged in activities that involved painting or making things. Her and her baby sister would paint all over their large white concrete sewerage tank with watery paints, which would wash off in the next rain (not very often in central Queensland).
"I hope that children and young people might connect with the objects in my painting, to feel familiarity with the books and appreciate the beauty in flowers, fruit and fabrics in the way that I do."
