Sofia Niazi is an artist, illustrator and member of One of My Kind (OOMK) artist collective. As part of OOMK, she currently runs a community Risograph print workshop, Rabbits Road Press, in Newham. She has been designing and delivering art projects for schools for several years and loves working on ambitious artworks with children and young people. In her personal work, she works with a range of materials and combines a bold use of shape and colour to create friendly and vibrant works. She is currently researching and producing work relating to housing and technology. As a child Sofia loved 'spending hours in the local library with my best friend sifting through various ‘step-by-step’ craft books and working feverishly to recreate the best looking pieces was our idea of a great time.'
'I loved making things and drawing and even just colouring in. My parents always supported my little projects by tracking down the specific junk containers I needed, I remember my mum giving me a ball of roti dough to make a pinch pot once too.'
