The Wonders of Art for the Head and the Heart
A gift for life
There have been numerous studies recording the benefit of art on happiness and mental health; these cite the power of colour to evoke positive emotions and the use of shape and form to make sense of our changing world, to appreciate its joys and beauties.
Both of us are far away from our home in Sydney, Australia, and as much as the art adorning each of our homes in London is a reflection of our current tastes and selves, it is also a way for us to connect to our families overseas. Having grown up around artists, gallerists and collectors, Camille was lucky enough to be gifted art as a child, and these pieces, which travel with her, have remained a great source of comfort, in particular throughout this year. Each one a reminder of a special moment in time and of the connective power of art to bind the natural world to the people in it.
The way that art can enable greater human connection as well as encourage better communication is at the forefront of thinking behind Bambini Collections. Given the positive effect art education and exposure has had on both of our lives, we really want to share its wonders with the world, and with young children who are learning to navigate it. We deeply believe that children who grow up around art, stay connected to it, and to their environment. Just as our parents instilled in us a curiosity for the world through the art that was displayed in the home, or that was gifted to us, we wish to nourish this in others. Whether you’re a new parent, a parent-to-be, or there are children in your lives, Bambini Collections offers an opportunity to invest not only in the start of a collection for them, but also in your relationship with them, through art that creates a lasting bond.
Our concern for children’s mental health and well-being extends far beyond our own digital gallery. We have partnered with Place2Be, a charity registered in England and Wales working holistically to improve the emotional wellbeing of pupils, families, teachers and school staff in primary and secondary education. Early intervention in children’s mental health can lead to improved diagnosis and treatment further down the line. A percentage of the proceeds from each of our sales will be donated towards funding for their Art Room Programme, which combines group discussion and art-making to help young people cope with emotional difficulties and express their feelings in a safe space.
At Bambini Collections, we aim to champion art practices that are helping to create a better and safer world as well as the artists attempting to paint a brighter one.
