When I was thinking about the exhibition concept of 'Family', I was out walking my dog on a Sunday morning, and was trying to work out what really spoke to me about this theme. I came home and walked in the door, and my ten year old daughter, Lucy, was cooking breakfast for the family. She had set the table and picked flowers and was going to so much effort... it was so sweet, and I instantly knew that 'Sunday Breakfast' had to be my painting! In this artwork I have painted free range eggs laid by my very own backyard chooks, avocado on toast, and jam, all set up on a vintage plate and stripy tablecloth. It reminds me of a slow Sunday morning with my family, and makes me think of my beautiful Lucy proudly cooking brekky all on her own.
