From the artist

Whilst thinking of my original idea for this brief over a cup of tea, I was taken back to the everyday, un-eventful moments of being around the kitchen table and having a cup of tea together with my family. I like how sharing a pot of tea or sharing a meal can be a bonding experience for us as humans, without even being aware that the experience we are sharing is a form of communal connection, which then becomes a regular habit. Thinking back to my family gathering around the kitchen to relax, laugh, discuss and enjoying the home comforts of a cup of tea and each other’s company filled me with warmth, especially as we have all left home now. I now enjoy a cup of tea wherever the location, as it often reminds me of lovely ’everyday’ family memories. These two works ‘Time for Tea’ and ‘Fancy a Cuppa?’ celebrate the ordinary and the everyday, the intimate home comforts.
